This morning Spencer and I woke up to the sound of a raging river. Two straight days of deluge have had a huge impact on the Lima River here in Bagni di Lucca. The rains have doubled the size of the Lima and created fast flowing currents. Luckily, the downpour subsided long enough to enjoy a dry breakfast outside of Il Monico.
Around 11am we drove through another rainstorm to Lucca for lunch. Spencer says nothing is better on a rainy day than sushi and I have to agree. Spencer loves the sushi train.
After filling our stomachs full of sushi we made a quick stop to the Ponte della Maddalena. This inspiring sight near Borgo a Mozzano commands the landscape.
We climbed to the top and enjoyed a few minutes of rain free skies.
As we started to leave a friendly voice called out our names. Our friend Farah was helping her rafting crews reach their final stop just past the bridge.
I imagine that they had a fantastic ride in the swollen waters.
