This past weekend Monti di Villa held it’s 4th Annual Living Nativity Festival. Sipping wine and sampling locals delicacies at an Italian festival ranks high on my bucket list, but I still have a few days until I depart for Tuscany, so I sent my husband.
Gregg joined several of our friends and made the short trip from our home village of Ponte a Serraglio, to Monti di Villa. This popular festival in the Bagni di Lucca region featured local crafts, music, an impressive selection of local cuisines and of course vino!
Gregg waited in a long line to try necci, a chestnut crepe. Unfortunately he was too busy eating his nutella filled necci to take a picture for me. Next year at this time I will be living in Italy full time and promise to get photo evidence of these Tuscan treats.
After sunset large lanterns were released into the air, providing a spectacular sight in the night sky. If your 2016 travel plans bring you to Italy in late autumn, you will want to add the Living Nativity Festival in Monti di Villa to your itinerary. Please enjoy these pictures Gregg snapped in between glasses of mulled wine.
