Many of us have a special place on this planet that rejuvenates our soul. It may be a country, town, tavern or park. For me that country is Italy and the town is Ponte a Serraglio in Bagni di Lucca. This summer Spencer, Gregg, and I finally got a chance to see this Tuscan town in person.  Of the 25 villages that make up Bagni di Lucca we will soon call Ponte a Serraglio home.  On one of my final days of vacation I set out at sunrise to photograph my new town.  Since I was very snap happy I decided to break this post into two parts. Enjoy part one of this photo tour of Ponte a Serraglio, Italy.

At the end of the pedestrian bridge is a hot springs tap. For centuries people have traveled to Bagni di Lucca for its thermal baths and springs.

Europe’s first casino, built it 1837. It’s directly across from the Parco Villa Fiori and is now used for concerts and special events.

My favorite place for aperitivo is Bar Italia. A glass of vino or prosecco is only two euro.

Il Monaco is just a short walk from my home. I love starting my morning here with a cappuccino and cornetto. IMG_2375
