Last night Spencer and I ventured down to Ponte a Serraglio for an evening with the Italian Red Cross. To celebrate its 151st anniversary organizers are hosting a 3 day event.
Just the walk to Parco Villa Fiori is worth the quick trip to our neighboring village. A long pedestrian bridge crossing the Lima River offers fantastic views of Ponte a Serraglio.
You’ll enter the park immediately after crossing the bridge. Spencer and I shared the grilled meat plate, which could have fed three people for only 8 euro.
By the time we finished dinner volunteers had set up the kid zone. For 3 euro Spencer enjoyed 10 minutes in the bouncy slide area.
Then he strapped on a helmet and jumped on a 4-wheeler. This has to be the best 5 euro I’ve ever spent. Spencer’s smile grew more and more each time around the tiny inflatable track.
After 5 minutes on the quad he was given an unofficial Italian drivers license. I’ve never seen Spencer so happy. The festival wraps up today, which means I’ll have more euros at the ready for my little quad driver. If you are in the Bagni di Lucca area come down and enjoy an afternoon and evening of food and fun. All proceeds benefit the Italian Red Cross.
