This morning I woke up and started packing for our 9 week Italian vacation that starts tomorrow. Yes, I know, I’m a late packer. I should have started days ago, but I organize better under pressure. I thank my 12 years in television news dealing with crazy deadlines for that reasoning.
Last year I managed everything in one carryon, this year’s a different story. I promised my friend in Maiori that I would bring her zip lock baggies, tupperware, and body cream.
Since the cream is more than three ounces I’m checking the bag this year. I’m hopeful my luggage will make it to Italy despite two stops and just a one hour layover in Germany.
Thankfully Spencer can fit all of his clothes in a small backpack.
My husband Gregg bought me an Italian made journal for Mother’s Day. I look forward to filling it with memories of our adventurers. I’m hopeful Spencer and I will be able to see Gregg as he works throughout Europe again this summer. I’ve already put my “mojo” out there and it appears to be working. With any luck we will all be together in Italy very soon.
Until then, I’ll spend the next 24 hours before departure checking my packing list a thousand times and making sure I will not arrive during any transportation strikes. See a former posting of mine, “The Worst Travel Mistake I’ve Ever Made…to date.”
